Tourists travelling to Cuba have access to medical services, in case of illness or accident. The majority of the hotels have a 24 hour service with doctors and nurses that guarantee primary health attention for any patient.  In all of the island’s main cities, you will find a group of hospitals or international clinics, equipped with modern technology to treat any ailments –for treatments that demand more care-; in addition to having highly trained doctors to treat any type of emergencies.  Among one of the important centres is the Cira Garcia Hospital in the City of Havana. An international Health Care insurance is recommended or a Cuban Travel Insurance which covers any health  problem while you are visiting the island.

We advise you to have international medical insurance to be used in any Cuban clinics in case of emergency or need of any type.  If you do not have any, we suggest you obtain a Cuban medical insurance through your trip organizer or  purchase it directly in the following insurance offices: ISLA, ESEN and ESICUBA.

If you are travelling outside Havana and get sick then you should ask for assistance in the provincial hospitals.  There are also various optical and international pharmacies where you can purchase any medication needed or optical products like eye glasses.

The Cuban health authorities demand any foreign visitor coming from any country that has yellow fever, endemic cholera or areas that have been declared infection zones by the World Health Organization to present an updated Vaccination Card upon arrival.
