Day 2 / HAVANA

After breakfast, this morning after breakfast we head out on a private city tour of Old Havana, visiting all squares, including Template from where Havana was founded, the Fortress of Real Fuerza. Visit Cathedral Square, the Armas Square, the San Francisco de Asis Square, the Old Plaza square and the Cristo Square. Entrance to Cigar Factory and Rum Museum to learn about the process of producing Rum and the famous Havana Cigar well known in the world.

Enjoy at mid-day a performance of the Musican Dancing Group on the Streets of Old Havana starting from the San Francisco de Asís Square, dance behind them at the rhythm of the Conga Music.

Lunch at La Bodeguita del Medio or La Mina restaurant, between the most famous bohemian restaurant in Havana with trio music playing classical Cuban Trova songs.

Group will be moving into the America theater in Havana where the Group will meet the 2 dancing Teachers who will be working with the Group while in Havana.

Session of 2 Hours dancing class will be taught: Salsa Lesson and practice for 1 Hour; the other 1 Hour will be Casino Rueda.

Back to the hotel.

Optional dinner.

22:30 Entrance to Casa de la Música to enjoy life Salsa Music with the assistance of the dancers who were teaching in the afternoon.

02:00 Transfer back to the Hotel.

Day 3 / HAVANA

After breakfast this morning, we have a continuation of the city Tour of Havana, this time visiting the Prado Avenue, Great Theater of Havana, Capitol Building very similar to the American Capitol Building (though smaller), then Central Havana, after that Revolution Square, the Colombus Cemetery, and the Vedado area, consider like the Modern Havana and the famous Seaboard of Havana (Malecon).

Optional Lunch.

Visit the very prestige Hotel Nacional de Cuba, visit the Hall of Fame in the Hotel which exhibits the pictures of the many famous people of the world has been lodge at the Hotel during the 85 years of its existence.

1 Hour Drive with the Old American Vintage Car through Old and Modern Havana, dropping off at the external area of Morro Cabaña fortress to enjoy the Sunset over Havana.

Back to the Hotel by bus.

20:00 Dinner at El Litoral Family Restaurant.

21:30 Entrance to the Art Factory X Alfonso, to enjoy a very nice cultural ambiance with Expo arts, meeting Cuban artist and people.

23:00 Entrance to the Fox and the Ravern to enjoy best life Latin Jazz in Cuba.

After breakfast this morning, we will visit the Yoruba Association of Cuba and the Orishas Museum in Guanabacoa to learn about the afro influence in the Cuban Music and the Cuban Dancing.

Optional luncheon: Try the Cuban Sandwich at Slopy Joe Bar, the most famous bar in Havana in the 40´s and 50´s.

14:30 2 Hours Classes of Guaguanco and Rumba at the American Theater with the Cuban Dancers Professors.

17:00 Special performance at the Casa de la Cultura de Centro Habana de Musical Group of Guaguanco and/ or Rumba, dancing by professionals.

19:00 Time to rest at the Hotel.

20:30 Dinner at San Cristobal de la Habana.

21:30 Participation if available in an Afro Dancing Party in private homes in Central Habana.

15:30 Visit the Museum of the Battle of Bay of Pig, occurred in 1961 with the Cuban exile forces supported by CIA and the American Government landed in this area to overthrow the Government of Fidel Castro.

After breakfast, full city tour of Trinidad, the quintessential of Cuba Colonial City, best preserved historical Center in all the America´s, visit the Santa Ana and the Major Square, entrance to Romantic Museum, visit the Cantero Palace, entrance to the Canchanchara Bar with a welcoming drink, and visit the Handcraft Fair.

14:30 Departing to Sugar Mills Valley and the Manaca Iznaga Tower, experience the Sugar Cane Juicy (Guarapo), and learn about the sugar cane production in the Sugar Mills Valley in the XVIII and XIX Century.

Visit the Sancti Spiritus City, one of the 7 villas founded by the Spaniards in the XVI Century.

Visit the Cultural House of Sancti Spiritus, enjoy a show of the Trova spirituana.

Walk around the main Square at the Historical Center to appreciate the main buildings and Churchs.

In the street of the same name stands Hotel Tejadillo, made up of three houses from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The light-colored façade and the less frivolous décor, combine with the more urban architecture to pique one’s curiosity about this hotel’s background. Seated in one of the two patios, the answer comes unexpectedly when a trio of nuns appe in the courtyard; they explain that they went to college here in 1960 and came back to see their old stomping grounds. Back then, two religious schools operated in this building. The towering tree that keeps the patio perennially shady, a Yagruma, was planted more than fifty years ago by another nun.

Plaza de San Francisco de Asis. It was built parallel to the de Armas, only 100 m away towards the bay of Havana, in a cove, which was filled in 1628 took the name of San Francisco for the establishment of the religious order, which began construction of a humble convent in 1575.

El Templete is a monument in Havana, Cuba, that pays homage to the place where the foundation of the town of San Cristóbal de la Habana was celebrated in 1519. The monument consists of bust of Christopher Columbus and three canvases painted by Jean Baptiste Vermay. It is a Neoclassic building, typical example of colonial architecture. The plaza was originally called Plaza Nueva (New Square). It emerged as an open space in 1559, after the Plaza de Armas and San Francisco. In colonial times it was a residential neighborhood of the Criollo plutocracy. Plaza Vieja was the site of executions, processions, bullfights, and fiestas all witnessed by Havana's wealthiest citizens, who looked on from their balconies. The Colon Cemetery, or more fully in the Spanish language Cementerio de Cristóbal Colón, was founded in 1876 in the Vedado neighbourhood of Havana, Cuba on top of Espada Cemetery. Colon Cemetery is one of the great historical cemeteries of the world, and is generally held to be the most important in Latin America in historical and architectural terms.

Guaguancó is a subgenre of Cuban rumba, combining percussion, voices, and dance. There are two main styles: Havana and Matanzas.Guaguancó is a couple dance of sexual competition between the male and female. The male periodically attempts to “catch” his partner with a single thrust of his pelvis. This erotic movement is called the vacunao (vaccination). The dance is performed with good-natured humor.

En its long and wide staircase, at the entrance of the house is its cozy bar, and visitors can witness from there the original show of trinitarian coast and sitting on the same staircase, also dominates a good panoramic view of the city, while Trinidarian music played by good soneros groups in the region is heard.

The Canchánchara

It is said that the Canchánchara was an ancient drink that prepared the mambises, where brandy with honey and any citrus fruit that came to hand mixing. It was hot taken as a nutritious and invigorating drink. It served to withstand the cold in the jungle and offset, to some extent, the consequences of machete charges. The mixture of its strong ingredients, allowed them to warm up the chest and protected from various respiratory conditions.

Salsa music is a general term referring to a genre that is based largely on Cuban and Puerto Rican popular dance music. It initially arose in New York City during the 1970s. Salsa is the product of various musical genres including the Cuban son montuno, guaracha, chachachá, mambo. Different countries of the Caribbean and Latin America have distinct salsa styles of their own, such as Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, L.A. and New York styles. In Cuba, a popular dance known as Casino was marketed as Cuban-style salsa or Salsa Cubana abroad to distinguish it from other salsa styles when the name was popularized in the 70's.
